Category 2
Students who need a VISA to travel and stay in Ireland.
Complete the Following...
- Student should submit a completed BCT application form along with the following documentation by post or email to admissions@bct.ie:
1.Proof of Educational Qualifications
2.Copy of Student’s Passport
3.Police Clearance Document - If the application is successful the College will send the student a “Letter of Invitation” (offer letter) confirming acceptance for the course and itemising the cost of tuition fees. The price includes the cost of Medical Insurance.
- Once the offer letter has been received the student can start making arrangements for the tuition fees to be sent to the College. If paying from overseas the funds can be transferred electronically to the College’s Bank Account. (Bank Details can be found on the Offer Letter). If paying by Bank Draft, this may take some time to clear into the College Bank Account.
- As soon as the tuition fees have been received, the College will issue the student a receipt, and a “Letter of Acceptance” confirming Course details, start date, payment of tuition fees, Medical insurance and Accommodation (if requested by student).
- Once the student receives the receipt and the "Letter of Acceptance", he/she can then prepare the application for a "Student Visa". Visa applications should be submitted to the Irish Embassy or Consulate in, or accredited to, the country in which you normally reside. If there is no Irish Embassy or Consulate in your country of permanent residence or home State, please contact your nearest Irish Embassy or Consulate for further information as to where your application should be sent. (Please refer to the Foreign Applications Requiring a Transit Visa section below).
- If the students Visa Application is successful, they must then make the necessary travel arrangements and inform the College as soon as possible, confirming flight numbers and times of arrival in Dublin, Ireland. If accommodation is required, the College can arrange this at student’s request (payment for accommodation must be paid when tuition fees are being paid). This allows the student time to select where they wish to live during their studies. It is important, that the student notify us in advance of accommodation needs, so we can make the necessary arrangements. The College should also be advised at this stage whether you want us to arrange for a taxi to collect the student from the airport.
- On the student’s departure to Dublin, they must be in possession of the original “Letter of Acceptance” along with sufficient funds (minimum €1200). Once the student arrives at Dublin Airport, Immigration Officials will stamp their passport with the VISA, having checked the authenticity of the College letter and verified your details with the College directly.
- When the student arrives in Dublin, they will be met at Dublin Airport by a College representative (if requested).
- Once the student has completed the Enrolment process, the College will send a letter to the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) in Dublin which verifies that you are a registered student at the College and soon afterwards the student must register their presence in Dublin at the GNIB offices. There is a €150 registration fee.
- If the students Visa Application is unsuccessful, they can either reapply or receive a refund (see Refund Policy).
Passport requirement
The student should have a valid passport, which exceeds their stay by 6 months.
