Course Overview
This FETAC business course is suitable for all students of business and management studies who have a basic level and knowledge of the business discipline and who now wish to develop and advance their business skills to a higher level. This course is also suitable for students who have achieved level 4 FETAC certification.
Entry Requirement
Course entry into this FETAC course will be considered on a number of criteria – FETAC Level 4 Certification- Irish Leaving Certification or International High school Certification or on current business status or business responsibilities. All potential students intending to enter this course will undergo an interview process with the course Director who will have the final decision on the eligibility of the student to undertake this course.

Course Outcomes
At the end of the course, students should be able to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in Communications and Work Experience and also within the elective business modules. More specific learning objectives defined and set by the tutors at the commencement of the course will also support and facilitate business learning outcomes in each individual module. Module assessment will take the form of on-going and continuous assessments in each discipline and end of course written examinations.
Course Details
The Certificate in Business Studies will commence in April 2012 for both International and indigenous students and will be run on a two year, full-time, Trimester academic system. Students registering on the course with prior or equivalent academic qualifications will be considered for module exemptions through discussion and clarification with the course director. Each student will in addition be required to provide valid and verifiable evidence of prior learning and education before any exemptions are given.
Course Progression
FETAC awards include features that support academic progression to additional educational platforms and a number of options and opportunities exist for progression to level 6 and to higher levels on successful completion of this course. In addition BCT will work with all students on completion of the course to endeavor to secure suitable business interviews and contacts.
Course Protection For Learners
Full and total learner protection for this course when it commences in April 2012 is provided in accordance with section 43 – 47 of the Qualifications Act 1999 and in line with the FETAC Protection for Learners, Procedures (Revised) October 2011.Under this PFL procedure, arrangement are in place that two alternative providers will run the course for all of the students registered to do the course at BCT. If due to an insufficient cohort intake on this course, BCT cannot commence the course, then as a priority, all registered learners on the course will be offered a choice of two alternative course providers. These two providers are: National College of Business Administration (NCBA) and Eden College.
